Hi. I'm Coach Katie Kellner.
RUNNING BACKGROUND: |
After college, I ran professionally for the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Project. During this time, I competed for Team USA twice -the 2013 International Chiba Ekiden in Chiba, Japan and the 2014 Great Edinburgh Cross Country Race in Edinburgh, Scotland. I also raced my first marathon at the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials, placing 28th.
|
In 2016, I moved to Boston, which is where I currently reside. I joined the Boston Athletic Association and qualified for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials by running 2:41:06 at the USATF Marathon Championships in Sacramento, CA. I placed 57th at the Olympic Trials in Atlanta, GA on February 29th, 2020. I am now very grateful to be supported by Tracksmith as I continue to train at the elite level. Looking forward to future races! Read more about me.

COACHING AND EDUCATION BACKGROUND:I started coaching in 2014, as part of Hansons Coaching Services. During that time, I worked with hundreds of runners, from those aiming to run their first 5K to those trying to crush the Boston Marathon. After working with many great coaches over the years, I've started to shape my own philosophy, with training plans for all distances from the 5K to the marathon.
I have my bachelor's degree in Human Biology & Health from Cornell University and my Masters in Public Health from Boston University. I also have a Special Skills Certificate in Emergency Medicine from Macomb Community College. I often refer to the information I've gathered about health, nutrition, anatomy & physiology, psychology, and human development to tweak my athlete's training plans and answer their questions. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and always seem to learn new things from each athlete that I coach! |
